Smart Chips

The primary function of the smart chip is to keep the printer apprised of how much toner is left, by measuring the number of sheets it can print.
The chip contains information such as the cartridge serial number, approximate printed pages/toner level, and in some cases implanted with an expiration date that is relative to the manufacturing date and disable the printer cartridge even if it is full.
